" The Formation of New Generational Politics in The Bahamas"
The Bahamas Constitution Party was formed in 1998, when Ali McIntosh was given a vision and a divine mandate to begin a new political machinery for the next generation of politics in the Bahamas. The political mandate will focus on a return to Good Governance according to The Preamble of the Bahamian Constitution, and the Core values articulated by the Framers of the Constitution, as the free will and wishes of the Founding fathers of the Modern Bahamas. .
During the two years of the initial planning of the BCP 1998-2000; the Father of the Nation, Sir Lynden Pindling, and Sir Randol Fawkes mentored the founder and organizer, assisting to give focus on what the original intent of the founding fathers meant to the creation of an Independent Bahamas. Some of the persons giving advice, encouragement and assisted with the planning during the early formative years of the party were:-
1. The late Rt Honourable Sir Lynden O. Pindling, KCMG
(Former Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of the Bahamas for 25 yrs, and Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party for 40 yrs)
2. The late Sir Randol Fawkes
3. Pastor Dr Jane Hopeful White
4. Mr. Lynden Nairn, Accountant
5. Minister Samuel Thompson
6. Minister Micklyn Seymour
7. Many others lend their advice and opinion.
The BCP was officially launched on May 14th 1999, in the cradle of a church service at the Golden Gates Assemblies World Outreach Ministries, who gladly opened their doors for the new political move for Righteous Governance. The Rev. Dr Roston Davis, Senior Pastor of the Golden Gates Assembly Church, Pastor Mario Moxey and Apostle C. Clifford Smith were ministers who officiated during the launch service, under the theme, " Rulers Must Be Just" featured in II Samuel 23: 1-7.
The Bahamas Constitution Party is a Conservative political party committed to the principles of good governance and Constitutional Democracy. In addition to the Preamble, the BCP is committed to the principle of a Constitution, (according to the 800 year legacy of the Magna Carta); which provides for fundamental rights of the individual, but against the absolute authority of the Monarchy, over the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, according to Article 71 of our Constitution.
As outlined in the Preamble, we believe that Christian Principles and Spiritual Values must be inherent components of the attitude of leadership, and how leadership relate to governance and the people they are called to serve.
We believe that for Peace, Order and Prosperity to be ultimately realized in the nation, the Rule of Law must be given the respect and honor that was originally foreshadowed by the founders of the nation; and the Ethics of the Separation of Powers must be explicit and clear.
As a government, the BCP promises to serve the Bahamian people with pride and honor; and with the sincerest belief, that the greatest potential of the Bahamian people is yet to be realized. Therefore if given the opportunity to serve, with the help of God, we will deliver the governance of this nation back into the hands of the Bahamian People; and ultimately, back under the influence and direction of the Almighty God (Elohim), the original architect and founder of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
Over the past 20 years, the Bahamas Constitution Party has contested three (3) General Elections, and one (1) Bye Election.
In 2002 - BCP contested the North Abaco seat with its sole candidate, Founder & Leader, S. Ali McIntosh.
In May 2012 - BCP contested five seats with endorsed candidates, Simon Smith in Nassau Village; Brenda Harris in Seabreeze; Colin Miller in Exuma; James Williams in South Beach; and S. Ali McIntosh in Englerston.
October 2012 - BCP contested the Bye-Election in North Abaco with S. Ali McIntosh.
In May 2017 - BCP Contested the General Elections with eighteen (18) candidates.
