Cornelius E. McKinney, Deputy Servant Leader
Candidate for Mangrove Cay, South & Central Andros
BIOGRAPHY
Cornelius McKinney, is a visionary, an Investor and Film/Television Producer, the third child of Joseph and Mildred Mckinney, was born in New Providence. He has spent his life in and currently resides in Grand Bahama. Cornelius holds a degree in Banking from the College of the Bahamas, as well as certifications in Microcomputer Technology and Film Production. Having spent more than twenty years in the Banking Industry, he moved on to form Galaxy Productions, a film and television production company, of which he now serves as Chairman. Cornelius is also the President of McKinney International Capital Markets, Tropikal Farms and Aragonite Bahamas Ltd.
Cornelius has served in youth ministry for more than twenty years. He started investing in the stock market while attending the College of the Bahamas, as was taken aback at the restrictive practices of the Bahamas Government against Bahamians exploring the capital markets for investments in other countries. He has a passion and drive to see others achieve their goals, and could see the hand of government, frustrating this process. This was further evidenced as he traveled throughout the Bahama Islands and saw the lack of development and apparent neglect.
At the age of fifteen years old, he traveled to Nassau to purchase a copy of the Bahamas Constitution, as he could not find a copy for sale anywhere on Grand Bahama Island. After reading the constitution, it became clear that the country had taken a different course. It would be thirty eight years later, when he met S. Ali McIntosh of the BCP, that he would decide to vote for the first time in his life, having now been introduce to a Political Party, whose ideals were based on the Bahamas Constitution.
Cornelius is an avid global traveler, seeking ideas that can be adopted to the Bahamas to make it a better country. He is divorced, with no children.
Cornelius follows the adage ‘It’s not the problem that counts, it’s the solution’, a phrased coined by one of his mentors, Dr. Deryl Hunt. Cornelius longs for the day, when the eyes of the people will be opened, and believes that only then, can they truly achieve their life’s dreams.
